Tufting

This was my rug sample for Resurrection, it was made using a tufting gun. A tufting gun is an compressed air device that sucks the thread into a needle and shoots it into the canvas. It took a few test runs before I did my final sample, and it really hurts your hand after a few hours, plus you notice your arm aching the next day. It was fun though :)
This sample took 1hr 45 mins, as I'd never done it before plus my gun kept un-threading itself. Afterwards my lectuer told me I had chose a complex design for my first attempt, oh well if you dont push yourself you aint gonna learn.

Pattern virus

So I was thinking of what to do over summer and I found this interesting programme made by Tokoyo uni. It lets you draw whatever you want and shows you the pattern for making it into a toy. Pretty cool, but when I downloaded the demo, it kinda messed up my laptop :(
Here's a video of it anyways.

Resurrection

For the second semester at uni we were given the title 'Re-word' for two modules. Resurrection was suggested by Chris, and so it began - zombie themed designs ;)
Jan's module = fabric samples
Sharon's = tabletop designs
Here's some of the work I did for each module

Overlapping screenprint

Maggot & flies reference

Zombie toile

Fly repeat

Tabletop concept board

Final sample collection

Sweet Repeat

For my first module at uni I had patterns in repeat. Random objects were placed in repeat patterns and then drawn, I chose sweets. Many black & white images were produced and a final was chosen and made into a screen. Backgrounds were made and then screenprinted onto. These are a few final prints.

Sam

This lil fellow was made through bordem and a lot of cheap fabric, I like how he turned out but the fabric is shit and frays a lot :( (hence the amount of stitching). It took about 3 hours to make, but Im planning on adding a few more touches to him :)
