As Halloween is close, my friend suggested I make something in that theme. I chose Zubat from Pokemon :)

The wings are glow in the dark too ;)
Hope you guys like it!

Moblin Strikes, Gizmo & Me

Now I've settled into my new accommodation for university, I thought id share with you my latest sprites :)

Here are two from the zelda series, I wanted it so they would be interacting with each other.

Moblin & Link 2009

This sprite is a black & white Gizmo from the Gremlins game off the Gameboy.
Gizmo 2009

This sprite was originally from Pokemon, but I re-coloured it so it would look like me, not too keen on it as it makes my hair look grey :(

Making of Zero Suit

Here is as promised the construction of the commissioned piece :)

Friday 11 September 2009

Bunna

These two are my most recent toys, and suprise suprise... they're my fav animal :)
They have two different colour/shades of felt each side, a fluffy tail on back and roughly take about an hour or less to make. I have a few more cut out and ready to be made but Im currently moving house so I will continue when everything is less chaotic ;)

Twice as Nice

So here is my commission piece, plus my original. I know I could have sold him the one that was already made, but I also love the sprite so I wanted to keep one for myself :)
I have a sequence of photos of the construction but theyre on my mobile and not too sure how to transfer them onto the computer, but when I do they'll be put on here :)

Commissioned Zero Suit Samus & Original 2009

Commission

Today I have had my first commission request :D I shall be making another Samus Zero Suit for a friend. When I made the first one I thought he would like it, but had no idea how much :)
I will show pictures of her when she's made (so in 2 hours roughly)

#175

This is my 1st sprite which isnt fully black outlined, as I usually recolour the outlines to have a bolder appearance. Ive been wanting to do Togepi for a while but didnt have enough of his shades to finish him. This sprite looks better when seen from afar as do many sprites. The sprite is from JoshR691.

This is the start of my Space Invaders project, I plan to add little bits every now & then, so far im happy with how it looks :)

Zero Suit

Im sooooooooo happy with this sprite!!, It took FOREVER to do, I messed up near the legs and it didnt match up so I had to move everything down a space :( Plus I had my pup wanting attention (when you dont give it him, he'll be mischievious ('borrow' things without permission)) This has been the most complex sprite I have made so far, even though the Ninetails is bigger.

Samus Zero Suit 2009

It Glows....

Been a while since I last posted but i've been busy plus needed more black beads.
My latest sprites :D

Horsea, HootHoot, Vapoureon & the letter L 2009

The HootHoot was made as Chris says its the Pokemon version of his friend Andy plus I did the letter 'L' so I had a reason to use my glow in the dark beads ;)
There maybe more to come later today.

Latest Pillo Gang

This so far is the Pillo range, a few more to come but these are the first batch.

Sunday 16 August 2009

New range - Pillo

The smaller toys are the smallest of this collection, which go under the group name 'Pillo' while the medium sized ones are part of 'Criss' group. I still dont have a name for the whole collection, but will have one soon :)

I plan on making packaging for these guys as well, for when they are sold.

Bud, Pop, Lea & Ruby 2009
The pillo guys took about an hour at the most to make, and are my favourite so far. Here's a quick production shot of the construction from today :)

Saturday 15 August 2009

The Twins

These lil guys are part of my series of toys (un-named so far). They're made from 1mm thick felt, and approximately took about an hour & a half :)

More to come soon, not tonight though as my neck is hurting from all the concentration ;)

Jake & Gorp 2009

Lemon Patch, Jake & Gorp 2009

Lemon Patches

Due to the lack of black beads, I decided to make something from felt instead. I started last night and finished about three or four hours later. I wanted to make something similar to Sam, as I liked how he turned out plus I have lots of felt just sitting there :)

I wanted this guys expression to be crazy as if he'd escaped a looney bin, I also wanted more colour, rather than having just the base colour. I plan to make a series of these lil guys, so keep checking for updates. Plus if anyone would like to have one made for them please feel free to ask, price will depend on size. lynseyluu@hotmail.co.uk ;)

The Lynzocube

With some advice about 3D models, I decided to make something simple :)
soooo... I made a Lynzocube ;)

Lynzocube 2009

I was up till 1 or 2 in the morning trying to iron/fix/not being noisey as everyone at home was asleep. Wish I had a larger quantity of colours as I think it would look better with a different colour pallette.

Tuesday 4 August 2009

Im Blue & Cyan...

Ive been busy all day and have run out of black yet again :( But at least I got some cool sprites :D

Jolteon, Blastoise & Dagonaire 2009

I also did a Mega-man for my bf because he's been wanting me to do one for him since I started bead spriting (plus it was the reason why I started)

MegaMan 2009

Ninetails Final

My beads arrived today so the first thing i did was finish the outline of the Turtwig. Then I did a Beedrill & and Spheal. I chose the Turtwig & Spheal as me & my bf sed theyre the pokemon version of his pets. Turtwig = Chomper the bearded dragon & Spheal = Molly the Choc Lab :D

Turtwig, Spheal & Beedrill 2009

PLUS!! I finally finished the Ninetails. I wish I had used a single pegboard(4) rather than doing it in quarters as the final join was quite hard, plus the foot was ripped off by the iron by accident so I had to re-do it.

Bow Badges

This pattern was found from PurpleTurtle, and I wanted to how big it was so I made it for myself, Ive tried other ways of making a bow but this so far is my fav way, I will still try to make my own version but until then this will have to do :)
These can be made in any colour and with or without the shading. I want to add a clip to the back so the can be a badge or maybe a hair slide too.

If anyone is interested in any of my work, or want a commission, then feel free to contact me for details little_miss_lynz@hotmail.co.uk or friends can find me on facebook ;)

Spy vs Spy

This is my latest creation, I had to take off my unironed quarter of Wart off my pegboard before I could do anything :(
Plus I used the black beads from it too, which leaves me with 13 left in total. I ordered more this morning so they should be here next week
This sprite is from a game called Spy vs Spy from the gameboy.

Friday 24 July 2009

Poké-Pixel

This is my latest Pokémon sprite which is finished, this was the only one I could do as Im running out of colours, so i'll need to order more soon.

Plusle 2009

Plus I have another sprite from Mario on my peg board un-ironed/finished as i've run out of black. I'd rather show it when its finished or at least ironed, but you'll have to wait & see :)

Saturday 18 July 2009

The Legend of Zelda

This sprite is Link from the first zelda game, I made it for Chris as its his fav character plus one of his fav sprites. Hope he likes it, as he hasnt seen it yet :)

Perler Sprites

Ok so here's my first attempt at bead spriting, as you can see it is unfinished as I ran out of yellow beads :( however it looks amazing! :D I will come back to this when I have more yellow.

Ninetails 2009

I also had a go at a 3D model from a template by Doctor Octoroc for a colour Gameboy, for my first go at a 3D one it came out good I suppose, not as I'd like it to as it didnt fit together very well, but oh well at least I know in future how to do it :)
On the screen is Tetris and on the back has the battery cover & game cartridge.

Mini-Me

So I finally made myself as a doll in felt, and it turned out quite good. The skirt was the only problem as I had to re-do it, when I sewed it together it looked more like shorts. The new skirt looks a lot better as I made it as a separate piece rather than part of the whole doll. The images are before and after I sewed and stuffed the doll.

Bead Sprites

So me & Chris were looking for a few pixel images for his latest tattoo and I came across this pixel art in bead form. These are those little Hama/Perler beads that you iron to stick together. Chris was amazed by them and automatically wanted one, so I thought why not? :) I've signed up to the site I found them on and asking where the best place to get the colours from, & hopefully I can get started soon.
This is a sprite of Bowser made by a very, very talented pixel artist. This guy makes huge images from these beads, and even 3D versions of video game consoles, I only hope to get as good as him.

Felt Bunnies

I also wanted to make a bunny, as they're my favourite animal plus I wanted it to be my bunny that previously died :( On a higher note I found a sewing pattern for a cute rabbit, which I got carried away with as Im still making them :) The brown one is made from a furry material, & the other two are felt (yellow is the better made felt) The yellow one is made for my friends unborn baby which is why there are no buttons on it or small parts. I hope the baby will like it :D

Bunna's 2009

Big Hair

My project was to make my friends into characters for a collection of felt dolls. Well my materials arrived however the skin tone I ordered was more yellow than a fleshy tone, but I made a mini doll prototype to see how they'd turn out if made for real. I used 9"x 9" squares of felt which was 1mm thick, good quality though not the shitty kids felt. I have seen a massive roll of a flesh tone for sale but just sorting out the postage. This is my first attempt

Summer

Re-Work of Sam

Remember this lil creation? Well I did some adjustments to him last night and liked how he turned out. The last mouth he had was made from satin which frays alot so I had to change that, plus I had been playing about with the position of his hands & liked the expression he was giving. I also turned the buttons around so the stitching was a vertical line rather than horizontal. Hope you like the changes :)

Customised Shoes

These are a pair of cheap shoes that I painted about two months ago for fun , plus I had no money to buy better ones. As they were really cheap (£2) they didnt last long, however, they lasted long enough for my friend to request a pair :)
Her feet have swollen up due to pregnancy so she wouldnt be needing them to last forever which is good as they are two sizes too big than her normal size. For my black pair I used acrylic paint with a tip-ex pen, for the white ones I used a permanent fine liner with the same paint. The tip-ex worked better as it was liquid which soaked into the fabric, while the fine liner only did the top layer. I may use some indian ink over the top to see if it improves.

Tufting

This was my rug sample for Resurrection, it was made using a tufting gun. A tufting gun is an compressed air device that sucks the thread into a needle and shoots it into the canvas. It took a few test runs before I did my final sample, and it really hurts your hand after a few hours, plus you notice your arm aching the next day. It was fun though :)
This sample took 1hr 45 mins, as I'd never done it before plus my gun kept un-threading itself. Afterwards my lectuer told me I had chose a complex design for my first attempt, oh well if you dont push yourself you aint gonna learn.

Pattern virus

So I was thinking of what to do over summer and I found this interesting programme made by Tokoyo uni. It lets you draw whatever you want and shows you the pattern for making it into a toy. Pretty cool, but when I downloaded the demo, it kinda messed up my laptop :(
Here's a video of it anyways.

Resurrection

For the second semester at uni we were given the title 'Re-word' for two modules. Resurrection was suggested by Chris, and so it began - zombie themed designs ;)
Jan's module = fabric samples
Sharon's = tabletop designs
Here's some of the work I did for each module

Overlapping screenprint

Maggot & flies reference

Zombie toile

Fly repeat

Tabletop concept board
